Empty Art Space in Shift
installation w/ Antti-Juhani Manninen
Turku Castle, Turku
blazer jacket, audio, expo carpet, silicone, computer keyboard, acrylics, laser prints, found objects, text
2017
Empty Art Space was realized free-form in another special context in Turku Castle as part of the Shift business festival art program. The work took over the “bridge of sighs” connecting different parts of the castle and the festival’s conference rooms, creating a void within the festival with references to marketing and the Middle Ages. The installation included e.g. a carelessly laid out expo carpet covering the space, a stony computer keyboard, a blazer jacket with audio mixing medieval music to ambience, a collection of texts quoting sales pitches and photographs of “visitors” in the space, plus found objects.
